Giants Have Major Issues

November 4th, 2009 by Paul McGrady No comments

There was a time not so long ago when much of the public and football odds media had crowned the New York Giants the best team in the NFL. That was actually only about a month ago and with a perfect 5-0 record it seemed quite possible. But a closer examination of the teams they beat and the subsequent three-game slide in the pro football odds has caused many a fan and pundit to change their tune.

The truth is the Giants are in trouble. It’s hard to find a spot to point the finger first but one position is the QB. Eli Manning started the season so well that people started confusing him with Peyton. That is until the last three games when he’s completed less than 50% of this throws and racked up 6 INTs. With those stats he’s not even the best QB in New York let alone the division.

If The Playoffs Started Today in the NFC…

November 2nd, 2009 by mjmari No comments

NFCWith the NFL postseason just two months away there’s not a moment to spare in handicapping the pro football odds playoff seedings. Okay, so maybe there is. But it sure is fun to try and piece together the playoff picture at the midpoint of the football odds season. Right now the NFC is full of interesting playoff scenarios, much more so than the AFC where three of the four division races already appear wrapped up.

If the playoffs were to start this very second the pro football odds makers would have their hands full. Based on the division standings after week 8 action the NFC West would be represented by the defending NFC champs the Arizona Cardinals (4-3). The NFC South would be won by the undefeated Saints (6-0) who have looked all but unbeatable. The NFC North title would belong to the 6-1 Vikings. And then things start to get interesting. Titans Looking for that Elusive First Win vs. Jags

October 30th, 2009 by mjmari No comments

titansFor the long suffering pro football odds fans in Tennessee, get ready. That’s right, that long awaited first victory of the season could be just around the corner. When the Jags (3-3) come to town it will be the team’s best shot at a win in months.

The Titans (0-6) have been perfect in their ineptitude so far this pro football odds season but would love to change that. They’ll apparently have a new QB behind center as everyone except coach Fischer seems to have confirmed that Vince Young will back in the starting lineup for this game. Hardly the football odds savior the fans had been hoping for, but it can’t hurt. After all, his losing percentage in the pro football odds competition can’t be any worse. Read more…

Cedric Benson NFL Rushing Leader

October 28th, 2009 by mjmari No comments

cedric_bensonFor football odds fans thinking that the freakish Adrian Peterson is the leading rusher in the NFL season, you would be wrong.  He does lead the league in William Gay steam rollings, but he’s been usurped in the yardage pro football odds stats by none other than Cedric Benson.  Cedric Benson? That is not a typo.

The former first-round bust with Chicago is now the leading rusher in the pro football odds. After a career day in week six against his old team (189 yards, 1 TD) he climbed past Peterson in the rushing yards race and is running like a man possessed.  Through seven games he’s piled up 720 yards (102.9 ypg) and five TDs and has made life for Carson Palmer much easier. AFC North is Up For Grabs

October 26th, 2009 by mjmari No comments

AFCIt’s a two-horse pro football odds race in the AFC North at this point. But in this crazy league and ultra competitive division, just give it a little time and anything can happen. The Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers are two games up on the Baltimore Ravens now, but that could change very quickly in the football odds action.

At 3-3 the Ravens seem like the odd man out right now after both Cincy and Pittsburgh won last week to run their records to 5-2. But a game and half back isn’t much in pro football odds action. Baltimore is the only team among the three that’s had a bye week so it can automatically pick up a half game with a win and at 4-3 would potentially be just a game out since the Steelers have bye this week.
