And The Best Team in the NFL is…

The mid-point of the football odds season is here. Most teams have now completed eight of the sixteen games on the schedule and those that haven’t will do so this weekend. And just a like in school this is the perfect point to issue a mid-term exam.

A one question test that asks: Which is the best team in the football odds? It’s a good question that deserves a good answer (which it may not receive here). Base purely on the records of the teams in the pro football odds, it’s a two-horse race with only Indy and New Orleans perfect through the first half of the NFL football odds season.

With identical 7-0 records these two teams have been the class of the league so far. Both teams have exceptional QBs and passing games, as well as surprisingly good pass defenses this year. But head to head the nod has to go to the Saints for one simple reason: the Saints have beaten a lot better teams than the Colts have.

In fact, the Colts haven’t really beaten anybody. The team’s toughest test of the season so far will be this Sunday when they take on the Texans. That gives you an indication of the competition Indy’s been facing.

The Saints have taken on all comers and beaten some very good teams in the process. And until another team proves otherwise, the Saints are the best team in the NFL and the team that seems most likely to represent the NFC in the Miami in early February in the biggest game on the planet.
