Giants Have Major Issues
There was a time not so long ago when much of the public and football odds media had crowned the New York Giants the best team in the NFL. That was actually only about a month ago and with a perfect 5-0 record it seemed quite possible. But a closer examination of the teams they beat and the subsequent three-game slide in the pro football odds has caused many a fan and pundit to change their tune.
The truth is the Giants are in trouble. It’s hard to find a spot to point the finger first but one position is the QB. Eli Manning started the season so well that people started confusing him with Peyton. That is until the last three games when he’s completed less than 50% of this throws and racked up 6 INTs. With those stats he’s not even the best QB in New York let alone the division.
But his poor play in the football odds has plenty of company on the team. The once vaunted rushing attack, the best in pro football odds last year has dropped to seventh this year, averaging 4.4 ypc and 141 ypg. This has been the only facet of the game that has kept the team semi-competitive in the three-game losing streak.
The defense also has a major part to play in the team’s NFL football odds slide. The unit has gone from a top two unit to the 21st in the NFL in total defense. It’s giving up nearly 23 points per game and anyone who saw the game against New Orleans knows why.
Worst of all the Cowboys and Eagles are peaking and the Giants now find themselves third place in a division they were dominating. The playoffs are looking farther and farther away each week.
