Somebody’s Got to Win When the Falcons Play the Giants

Two good NFC teams that just can’t seem to win in the pro football odds are the Falcons and the Giants. That pretty much sums up the football odds matchup when the Atlanta Falcons (5-4) travel to the Meadowlands to play the New York Giants (5-4).

Diehard New York fans must be wondering whether this team will ever come out on top of the pro football odds ever again. After starting out a perfect 5-0 against a steady stream of tomato cans the Giants can’t find the end zone.

Much of this has to do with the struggles of QB Eli Manning who went from looking like brother Peyton in weeks 1-5 to looking more like his mother Olivia in week’s 6-10. Over the past four games his completion percentage has been around 50%, he’s thrown 5 TDs vs. 6 INTs and has a passer rating in the 80s. His poor play has also affected the running game which been slowed down in recent weeks.

The Falcons haven’t gone nearly as long without tasting victory but due to the difficulty of the schedule this team has nowhere near the win total that some pro football odds experts expected.

Again, QB troubles –as well as a tough schedule- has hampered the team’s success. Second-year man Matt Ryan had huge expectations heading into the season after winning the Rookie of the Year award and he’s failed to live up to them so far this NFL football odds season. Key injuries at receiver haven’t helped, but a steady does of RB Michael Turner has helped ease the pain.

And it will be steady dose of Turner in the Meadowlands on Sunday. Giants are giving up 211 yards a game and Turner should run wild.

New York will lose its 5th game in a row and drop to 5-5.
