Yes, the Titans Really Are That Bad
At 0-1 in football odds, you might say no problem. 0-2, just some bad bounces. At 0-3 you start to worry a bit, but at 0-4 there is almost no other way to look at it: the Tennessee Titans are a bad team. A real bad team. For football odds fans this is one of the most surprising developments of the young pro football odds season.
After all, this is a team that just a year ago had the best regular season record in football odds (13-3) and looked on pace to win the franchise’s first Super Bowl. What a difference a year can make in the NFL.With basically the same roster in place (minus defensive superstar Albert Haynesworth, and the addition of Nate Washington at receiver) this team has suddenly become very awful.
On offense Titans have no rhythm. Kerry Collins is starting to look like the 37-year old career back up that he is. He’s got just 5 TDs and 6 picks on the year to go with his 68.9 passer rating. Jeff Fischer would love to upgrade here, but with wacky Vince Young as his second-stringer, his options are limited.RB Chris Johnson is having an outstanding year, among the NFL football odds leaders in rushing but teams have begun keying on the running game, forcing Collins to beat them. Something he’s proven incapable of so far in the pro football odds.
On defense this team is a shell of its 2008 self. It’s among the worst in the league giving up 27 points and 362 yards a game. Fischer’s teams tend to be strong finishers and this team will need to be just to reach .500 for the season.
